One Day

Gran Canaria, like the other islands in the Canary Islands archipelago, has a terrain that allows for hiking under clear skies all year round. It is also divided into two parts, one greener and the other more arid, so that all desires can be fulfilled.

The one-day hike offers the possibility of focusing on your own preferences, level of fitness and the objectives you set for yourself. A preliminary meeting with guests to get to know each other and describe the various possibilities is the start of the experience.

You can choose between low, medium or high level activities, depending on the length, elevation and duration. They can be circular or linear, all structured to offer views of various ravines, valleys and landscapes in the same walk.

I will be with my guests for as long as necessary, with no time limit other than that decided by them.

Services included: civil liability and accident insurance, walking sticks, transport if necessary.

Tamadaba

A tour of Tamadaba Natural Park, visiting its humid side and then its dry side, managing permits to access private areas to enjoy a circular route of varying length and elevation depending on your level of training and preferences.

From around 7 km, with 320 metres of cumulative elevation gain and loss, to 10 km, with 450 metres of cumulative elevation gain and loss, ending with 12 km, with 520 metres of cumulative elevation gain and loss.

Los Moriscos Forest

Los Moriscos Forest

A route along the northern slope of the Caldera de Tejeda/Artenara, the Barranco Grande, to enjoy views of the north-eastern part of the island and its interior, discovering the archaeological sites of Cueva Caballero and Cueva de Los Candiles.

The views towards the centre of the island are breathtaking, while the stretch through the Canary pine forest provides shade and scents that delight the senses.

In this case, you can also choose between different lengths and elevation gains: from about 6.0 km with 240 metres of cumulative elevation gain in ascent and descent, or 7.5 km with 380 metres of cumulative elevation gain in ascent and descent, to 10.5 km with 500 metres of cumulative elevation gain in ascent and descent.

Laurisilva Forest

The northern side of the highest Islands of Canary archipielago is characterised by a bioclimatic zone known as monteverde. Laurisilva is the vegetation that covers it, a relict plant ecosystem that occurs naturally in only a few places in the world. It is the area that receives the most rainfall or horizontal rain (a phenomenon characteristic of the Canary Islands), where green abounds and provides a sense of serenity and peace.

There are several routes here, ranging from a few kilometres in the Barranco de Los Tilos (Barranco del Laurel) to 10 km or more with cumulative elevation gains of between 400 and 600 metres uphill and downhill.

Blue Tajinaste

Gran Canaria holds 2,083 endemic species, 582 of which are exclusive to the island, meaning that only smaller islands such as El Hierro and La Gomera have a higher number of endemic species per square kilometre.

Among Gran Canaria’s endemic species is the blue tajinaste (Echium callithyrsum), with 70,000 specimens located in very specific areas of the island, including the Tenteniguada volcanic complex. That is why between February and April it is a good idea to take advantage of its flowering season, to immerse yourself in its abundant flowers surrounded by thousands of bees whose buzzing provides the soundtrack to your walks.

The trails in this case are between medium and high difficulty, due to their length and the steep slopes caused by volcanic activity and vertical landslides that have shaped the area where this endemic species abounds. The most demanding trails are about 10-12 km long with a cumulative elevation gain of 650-750 metres, while the easiest ones are 8 km long with a cumulative elevation gain of 450 metres.

Guayadeque ravine

This is one of the most impressive places in Gran Canaria, due to its steep slopes, its long geological history and the richness of its vegetation in spring. The presence of the ancient Canarians who lived on the island before the conquest is evident throughout the ravine, whose slopes are dotted with caves used for habitation and burial.

The walks are all of medium or medium/high difficulty, due to the elevation gain rather than the length, ranging from about 8/10 km with 550 metres of cumulative elevation gain in ascent and descent, to 15 km with 1100 metres of cumulative elevation gain in ascent and descent.

Roque Nublo

Roque Nublo is a unique landmark in Gran Canaria, as well as being the symbol that identifies the island in all tourist information. Since last February, access has been regulated and reservations are required for the most popular section. There are still alternative routes that offer a broader experience of the entire area.

You can choose from the easiest route, which is about 3.5 km long with a cumulative elevation gain of 170 metres, to a slightly longer route of about 4.8 km with a cumulative elevation gain of 230 metres, which requires an access permit, to longer routes that do not require a permit, for example, 8.2 km with a cumulative elevation gain of 400 metres uphill and downhill.

Cumbre

This term refers to a bioclimatic zone between 1,600 and 2,000 metres above sea level. Characterised in the Canary Islands by pine forests, in Gran Canaria it represents the highest part of the island, reaching an altitude of 1,956 metres at Morro de La Agujerada (Pico de Las Nieves).

There are several routes in this area that allow you to discover unique geographical and volcanic features, as well as the highest points from which you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the island as a whole.

The length varies between 7 and 10 km with a cumulative elevation gain of 350/450 metres in ascents and descents.

South

The area between Ayagaures and Temisas is very extensive. All the routes are stunning due to the volcanic formation of this slope, and they have arid vegetation that in spring becomes exuberant with yellow and violet flowers that cover the rugged slopes.

The lengths of the routes vary, although there are short trails framed by vegetation at the bottom of ravines with native cane and palm trees (Phoenix Canariensis) in the Fataga Valley, or longer trails with greater elevation changes in Tunte, Santa Lucía and Temisas.

Southwest

The southwest is characterised by trails that follow the bottom of ravines (as in the case of Veneguera) or old paths along irrigation ditches (as in the case of Barranquillo Andrés). This is an area where the ancient Canarians had sacred places of worship and meeting places for tribal chiefs.

These are easier routes in terms of length/elevation gain (Veneguera with 8 km and 330 metres of cumulative elevation gain in ascent and descent), which can reach a medium difficulty (Barranquillo Andrés with 12 km and 750 metres of cumulative elevation gain in ascent and descent), or high (Monte Tauro with 11 km and 700 metres of cumulative elevation gain on the ascent and descent).

Inagua, Ojeda and Pajonales

Gran Canaria has countless protected natural areas, with the highest level of protection afforded by the Integral Nature Reserve. The Inagua, Ojeda and Pajonales Reserve is the only one of the two existing reserves where, with permission from the Cabildo (which our company has), hiking activities are permitted.

It is an ancient massif, protected by law due to the species of fauna (blue chaffinch) and flora found in this area. Legal protection is combined with natural protection due to the remoteness and characteristics of the trails, which are always long (between 14 and 17 km) and have a very steep gradient (750/950 metres of cumulative elevation gain and loss). Several of these require logistical support in the form of a taxi or a second car.
